Learning through play

Sticky Fingers and OASTies at Uplands Community Centre aims to offer children and parents high-quality childcare in a safe, stimulating, flexible and friendly environment in which the children’s personal and social and emotional development flourish.

During term time, we are open from 7.30am – 6.00pm offering breakfast club, morning, lunchtime, afternoon and after-school childcare. Hot lunches are available.

During school holiday time, we are open from 7.30am – 6.00pm providing a holiday club for children aged between 12 months and 11 years. We are closed for bank holidays and for two weeks at Christmas.

At Sticky Fingers we provide a variety of activities that enable children to develop and learn within a safe, secure environment. We provide a key person approach to ensure that the children feel cared for within the setting whilst giving the parent/carer the opportunity to develop a professional relationship in which we can share information and ensure the very best care for the children. Some of the ideals and groups we offer at Sticky Fingers are listed below:

“The manager and staff effectively monitor children’s progress and closely track their development. This helps them to highlight any gaps promptly and provide children with individual support to help them catch up and make good progress in their learning.”

Ofsted July 2017

Children are encouraged to explore, experiment and achieve in a relaxed free flow environment. Activities are relevant to the children’s interests and planning reflects the four principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum – the unique child, positive relationships, the enabling environment and learning and developing. We employ other professionals to lead activities such as French and Football. We have a full pack of policies and procedures for parents and carers to view in the setting.  To view our safeguarding and child protection policy, please click here.
